On Loynes between Studebaker and PCH

Long Beach, CaliforniaMar 04, 20104 Comments

Motor Bike officers hide just around a blind corner near the bushes to the right as you approach eastbound from PCH. They are hard to see as they blend in with the bushes. Speed limit is 30mph.

Comments:
I always slow down here. Then go back the other way to see if any cops. Then floor it in the first direction and bounce all over the road and watch my friends laugh while we defy death! It's a lot of fun and the cement barriers they put up keep our cars off the golf course. I do wonder sometimes what my folks would think if I did not come home one night, though. Ain't gonna happen to me Mom and Dad. I know how to drive your car. So do my friends.

This road SHOULD have a speed trap, even when it does not. Because of the constantly shifting substrate, this road undulates up and down and is in constatn motion itself. This undulating, curved road is one that will cause your car to lose contact with the pavement if going to fast. If you like to have fun this will give it to you ... until it kills you. This road is a killer ... truly a killer. I have seen the bodies. SLOW DOWN on this road.

This is where I got my first, and only, speeding ticket. It's been over 10 years since that happened, and I make sure to slow down when driving down Loynes. Especially when I come up to their hiding place. I don't see officers there too often, though. But it's not a speed trap. And I agree with the second post about the road, itself. It's built on a landfill. They'll fix it so it's not as bumpy, but after a few years, it's bumpy again.

The roadway west bound from Studebaker to the first traffic light (Bixby) can be safely travelled at speeds of up to 45mph after that 35mph is safe. Going east 35 t0 Bixby and forty to Studebaker is safe. Officers do not normally cite unless speed is ten miles in excess of posted limit.
