Between Columbia and Mann’s Harbor in Dare County there is 40 miles of swamp with a wide and fairly straight 2 lane road. Many people going to the Outer Banks of NC try to speed through here but the NCSHP patrols this stretch of road relentlessly day and night. Set your cruise control no higher than 60 or you will live to regret it.

Plenty of State Troopers on this road. Rule of thumb from locals is 64 on Rt. 64.
This is a stretch of road that the NCSHP uses to train new troopers. Speed at your own peril.
