Orange Avenue near Cypress City College
Motorcycle officer can often be found lurking in one of the apartment house driveways near Cypress CC during daylight hours. The posted speed is 35 mph but the prevailing speed is usually much higher. This area gets worked like a garden patch – the combination of a wide street and (usually) light traffic is just too tempting!

This is still a very lucrative harvesting area for Cypress PD. I lived for a while on Valley View near the corner of Orange and the cops had cars pulled over in front of my house literally 10 times day and night. Due to the required traffic survey, the posted speed limit on Orange Ave is now 40 mph. That will not stop the revenue raising efforts of the Cypress PD. What need is there for motorcycle cops other than revenue collection? They can't transport suspects, they don't respond to or investigate crimes and they don't work nights( although they may soon). They only write tickets.
