PA Turnpike near Morgantown Crossing

Morgantown, PennsylvaniaSep 03, 20071 Comments

When going either east or west on the Pennsylvania Turnpike within 5 miles of the Morgantown Interchange there are usually police cars in either direction. I drive it daily and usually someone is pulled over.

Hahaha, this is old as time itself almost, it's been going on for years. West bound trooper sits in a lane between two grass mounds radar gun in hand, and seems to come from nowhere. If it's an SUV, and you're paying attention and not speeding too bad you can sometimes make out the very top of the low pro LED light bar. If it's anything else you won't have a chance to see it in time to slow down quick enough. Eastbound they have a couple spots they sit all well concealed and they can see you long before you can, same goes westbound. It's a perfect setup and it's worked like a charm for years. Everybody locally knows this one and if you see brake lights come on anywhere close to exit 286 (Morgantown), don't tailgate the cars in front they may save you a big ticket. Locals know to shut it down on the gas pedal in the general area, it's usually the out of towners headed west towards PA 23 and Lancaster or others headed east toward Philly and NJ. They love NJ plates, that's instant stop and sit lunch time special. Turnpike tickets are very pricey, just like PA tickets are in general. Just a heads up from a local. Drive safely.
