Parkway School Zone

School Speed Limit says when children are present. In the 3 years I’ve lived here I have never seen children in front of the Middle School on Parkway. They are dropped off in back the same place buses drop them off. I have no children in the school so I have no idea of the hours they attend. There are no SIGNS stating school hours as in other towns (Ft. Smith for one) or flashing lights to alert drivers that children may be present. So unknowing motorists and people from other areas would not be aware of school times. Why are there no SIGNS stating school hours? Sounds like a SPEED TRAP to me. Noticed several other agree.

Comments:
No the area is not a speed trap. In the state, school zones have to be identified and the law states "No person shall operate a motor vehicle in excess of 25 miles per hour when passing a school building or school zone during school hours when children are present and outside the building." So there are no hours. Only if children are present and it includes during school function after normal school hours ie. Dances, parent teacher nights, or open houses. I am an attorney and have defended clients who have received citations for this. And only one case has been dropped because the person had dash cams showing the road and one on the odometer. (Been pulled over once to many times I think.)
