Past Food Lion on Main Street
As you pass Food Lion on Main Street, the Police sit all up and down the hill that leads into Carter County. The speed limit is 30mph…..a car won’t get out of 1st gear going up the hill, then as you start down the hill, you must ride the brakes most of the way. As soon as you hit the Carter County line, the speed limit changes to 45mph. There have been complaints for years regarding this stretch of road being too slow. They make a lot of money on tickets here. My sister-in-law got a ticket going 36mph.
