Pine Street near Industrial Road

Guthrie, OklahomaSep 05, 20071 Comments

Going South on Pine towards Industrial there is generally a cop that sits hidden in the drive of a land entrance weeds block your view so you don’t see them until it is too late. There are some small inclines and the posted speed is 35 so it is easy to go over by mistake.

Yes, this definitely a speed trap. On Aug. 25th, 2018 we went down Pine to locate a church that we would be visiting the next day, Sunday. I saw a Guthrie Police Officer hidden in between 2 areas of tall brushes off the side of the road. And he did nothing to us yesterday. Today being Sunday we went to visit that church and the Guthrie Police Officer was parked in the same spot on our way to church but didn’t bother us until after church. We got out of church after having a nice visit only to have a Mustang tailgating us and crowding us unmercifully on Pine heading back into town in which we pulled off at the intersection only to find out that this Guthrie Police Officer went after us. And claimed we were speeding 47 mph in a 35 mph zone. Neither one of us saw the speed zone sign until it was too late because it was covered in tree limbs blocking sight over 2 city blocks away. So when the Guthrie Police Officer asked us if knew why he pulled us over, we honestly didn’t know. I also let the Guthrie Police Officer know that I am Red/Green colorblind. Which means that speed limit sign was so covered up that I couldn’t see the sign itself, because green always in my vision appears in a different color allowing me to see through camouflage. We were thankful that the Guthrie Police Officer only gave us a warning. When we went back to look to see where the sign was, that same Guthrie Police Officer went back to the same spot he had been parked before pulling us over. We chose to find a different way to go home. And we will take that different way to go to church and advise others to do the same. As homeowners this is the reason why we take the responsibility to make sure our tree limbs where we live are cut away from the road, because there’s a blind spot around a hill. Word to the wise.
