I could not agree enough speed limt is too low going through here and they are waiting for somebody to pounce on. The police officer likes to pull over two at a time. The speed limit is an invitation for somebody to speed there.

The speed limit in Westlake is well below the “safety-limit”. Westlake is a “small-town” with out typical revenue generating businesses. I had the opportunity to talk to a Westlake Board of Alderman (a Westlake city Council member) who admitted that the town is in desperate need of revenue from money generated fines such as speeding, running stop sign etc…. Thus, short of a property tax, speeding tickets ARE the ONLY revenue generating business. -Sans the illustrious roaming motorcycle cop, the favorite hang out is at the corner of Dove and Paigebrooke (next to the Fire Station). The speed trap is at the bottom of a steep-hill where unsuspecting drivers going the speed limit typically succumb to gravity and gain a few mph on their speedometer . Let’s be honest: a ticket for 34 in a 30 is a lil’ ridiculous. Fact: The average human walking speed is in the neighborhood of 3 mph (4.8 km/h). the agenda is more of a spiders’ lie and wait technique to nab the unsuspecting as opposed to a pubic safety service.
