Pretty much the ENTIRE town

Benton City, WashingtonSep 24, 20101 Comments

This is a small town with a 25 MPH limit just about everywhere. Even the main drag leading into and out of Benton City is 25, and they mean TWENTY FIVE. Drive 26 or more, and you have a 90% chance of getting stopped somewhere along the five or six mile stretch going through. There is a school zone at the north end, with a 20 MPH limit, so you’d better drop 5 MPH when you reach it. Note that for several miles PAST town going north, (out in the farmland past orchards etc.) the limit is still only 40 MPH.

Comments:
Actually, the speed limit on SR225 is only 25MPH for about a mile or so, from the Conoco station through "downtown" to OIE Hwy. South of that stretch, it is 30-35, north of OIE it is 35-40. The vast majority of traffic through town travels at or below the speed limits, so the limits easily qualify for the 85th percentile guideline. Also, BCSO is rarely actively using radar while parked in town, except by the elementary school.
