Providence Road near Mayfield Road

Alpharetta, GeorgiaJul 15, 20050 Comments

Coming off of Mayfield Road, where the posted speed limit is 45 mph, west onto Providence Road where Mayfield forks, the speed limited changes to 35 mph. There are two signs, one right after Mayfield and one right past Bates. However, the sign immediately after leaving Mayfield is obstructed from the driver’s perspective by tree limbs, and there is no other indication that the speed limit decreases. Furthermore, the speed limit is 35 mph for only 9/10 mile until you leave the City of Alpharetta limits. At that time the speed limit changes back to 45 mph where it stays for the remaining 6 miles of Providence. A marked City of Alpharetta police SUV will sit at the stop sign at Lankin Road (subdivision) appearing to be a vehilce preparing to enter traffic. About the time you round the curve at Bates Road, they’ve got you on laser.
