Ralston/Alameda

Belmont, CaliforniaMar 10, 20101 Comments

Belmont is the worst for speed traps. The police department literally deploys radar "SWAT" teams from the roof of buildings along the length of Ralston Ave. They are equipped with sophisticated radar guns that look like sniper rifles and can pick off speeders from one mile away. They can then communicate this to patrol cars parked in the area who then pull over the speeders. These teams wear camoflage uniforms, so if you see one, you know he’s headed for the roof of a building. Beware!

Comments:
Ralston Avenue between Alameda De Las Pulgas and Notre Dame College has been an infamous speed trap for more than fifty years. In the seventies, motorcycle officers with radar were present every day. I had even received tickets on my bicycle on Ralston Ave in the mid seventies. Not much has changed there since then. Trust me when I say a leapord (or in this case a bear) doesn't change it's spots.
