Reynoldsburg Church of Christ on Graham Road

Reynoldsburg, OhioFeb 25, 20104 Comments

The Reynoldsburg cops hide in the Church of Christ of Reynoldsburg Parking Lot and get people as they’re coming from State Route 256 down Graham Road.

Comments:
This road is a 25 mph zone from end to end, and 25 means 25, believe me. There is also a school and RPD sticks around the area during the hours when the flashing school light is on and make sure that everyone knows tht 20 mph means 20 mph...not 23.

Be very AWARE of doing above 25 mph on GRAHAM ROAD in Reynoldsburg. I got a speeding ticket in July on a Sunday around 5pm. I was going with the speed of traffic and thought that the speed limit was 35 mph. I saw a cop sitting on the Church of God parking lot. I looked at my speed and I was going 35mph so I thought I was ok. I no sooner passed the cop and saw a 25 mph sign posted and I thought oh no I am going to get pulled over. Low and behold he pulled out and pulled me over on 256 in the Tim Hortons parking lot. No need to try to plea your case with a Reynoldsburg Cop if you are African-American because they don't care and have a reputation for racial profiling. I did let him know that I thought the speed limit was 35mph and that I did not see that the speed limit was 25 mph until after I passed him. He could have cared less about my explanation and he asked for my phone number. I told him that I did not have a phone number for him and he said you have no phone and I said no and he said you don't have any number for me to get in contact with you like a cell phone and I stated "I TOLD YOU THAT I DO NOT HAVE A NUMBER TO GIVE YOU" (although I did have a iphone on me that he could clearly see but I did not feel that he needed my number to issue me a citation). He then asked for my drivers license and I told him I had lost them so he asked for my SS# and proof of insurance of which I provided to him (he should have asked me for my drivers license and proof of insurance prior to asking me for a phone number). This just shows how INCOMPETENT REYNOLDSBURG COPS are! I requested to see my speed and he told me NO stay in the car and he walked back to his cruiser. He wrote the ticket for $120 and I asked him how he came to that amount and how did I not know he was not just putting any amount that he wanted on the ticket and he said the rates are posted at the Reynoldsburg Municipal Building. I asked him what good did that do me now and he had no explanation for it. I read through the front and back of the ticket before agreeing to sign. I made him stand there in the hot blazing sun while I read the ticket for 15 minutes. I thought I am going to make him sweat since he was wasting my time and had caused me to miss an appointment. While reading the ticket I turned up my air conditioner up in the car while he stood there sweating. He was very frustrated with me but could do nothing about it. I noticed an error on the ticket in the fact that he listed my race as being WHITE but I did not tell the Cop because I did not want him to be able to correct it. Two weeks later I went to Reynoldsburg court. I told the prosecuter that I am not WHITE and that the ticket should be thrown out. He stated cops often do not know what race someone is until they pull them over. I told him that I agreed and once he pulled me over if he CLEARLY could not tell that I was BLACK and not WHITE that he should not be a COP and that I question his ability of knowing which car to pull over or what my speed was. He refused to throw it out so I asked that the case be transferred to Franklin County Municipal court. He stated lets have you come back and meet with the COP and he can explain why he listed you as WHITE. A month later I go back to court in Reynoldsburg and the Cop shows up. I was able to ask him why he listed me as WHITE and he stated he made an ERROR. I said oh you are above the law and allowed to make ERRORS but I am not. I said to the COP do I look WHITE to you and he said NO. I stated then why did you put that on the ticket and again he said I made a MISTAKE. I said if this is a MISTAKE on here then what else is a by your words "A MISTAKE". The Prosecutor objected and told the cop not to answer the question. I then said to the COP aren't you required to write ACCURATE information on a ticket and where you signed the ticket it CLEARLY states that the issuing officers signature attest to the accuracy of the ticket. Hence again he had no explanation. I then asked him why he needed my phone number as I did not see a spot on the ticket to list a number and that he made me very uncomfortable in the way he asked several times for it. He stated that there was not enough room on the ticket to write down info. The Reynoldburg Magistrate found me GUILTY despite of this COP's INCOMPETENCY and imposed an extra $95 for court costs. I refused to sign the document and requested an appeal and that the case be transferred to Franklin County. At the window the Clerk stated by signing this does not mean that you agree with the outcome. I asked him to show we where it stated that and ofcourse he COULD NOT so I told him I would not be signing it. The Clerk also showed me a spot on the ticket for a phone number. I said shouldn't the cop have known there is a spot for a number instead of the explanation he provided during the hearing. I said hence again you just proved how INCOMPENTENT this COP is because he does not even know that there was a spot for a phone number. The COP was standing there and I told him this case was not over and that I would see him in court in FRANKLIN COUNTY and that I would have an attorney representing me and he could then explain to him WHY he listed me as WHITE instead of BLACK. On November 14, 2012 I went to court and guess who failed to show up (THE COP). I spoke to the Prosecutor and explained my side of things and he DISMISSED the case because he agreed that a COP must write accurate information on tickets and that COPS are not above the law. He also stated that he had far worse cases to deal with then this speeding ticket of which by the way I had not had a speeding ticket since 1997 and have NEVER been in trouble with the law. Lessons for all: -DO NOT Speed on GRAHAM ROAD in REYNOLDSBURG...the speed limit is 25mph. Do the posted speed limits in Reynoldsburg as the city is broke and COP's will pull you over even if you are only 5 miles over but will say that you are 10-15miles over. -Reynoldsburg cops are known for racial profiling and to avoid being caught for this they will write that a BLACK person is WHITE so when statistical data is pulled it shows that they actually pulled more WHITES over. -READ your tickets CAREFULLY and if you find an error DO NOT bring it to the COPS attention. Take it to court as they will have to throw it out even if you are at fault. -DO NOT go to court in Reynoldsburg as they find everyone GUILTY as the CITY of REYNOLDSBURG is broke and they need money. Have the case transferred to FRANKLIN COUNTY who is well aware of the troubles in the REYNOLDBURG police department. -FRANKLIN COUNTY is more likely to dismiss, lower your fine or decrease points on your license because they have thousands of cases to handle in Frankin County and want to get people in and out quickly. -If a COP has pulled you over and you feel uncomfortable request that they have their Supervisor to come out to the seen. -Know that just because a COP has a gun and a badge that YOU HAVE RIGHTS TOO!!!! -It is time consuming to go to court but often times they will see how far you are willing to take it. Most people give up and pay but don't give up take it all the way. It will be worth it in the end.

Any time you get a ticket...DO NOT automatically pay it. Take it to court because 90% of the time the COP will not show up and the case will be dismissed. Do not take it to city court in Reynoldsburg. Take it to the county court which is more uncomfortable for Reynoldsburg cops and more inconvenient for them. Reynoldsburg cops do not like to face the Magistrate and Prosecutors in Franklin County because of the bad reputation that Reynoldsburg cops have.
