Ribaut Rd & Hermitage Rd

If your coming from the town of Port Royal and passing the Beaufort Memorial Hospital the speed limit drops from 45 to 35 mph. In the 35 mph zone I’ve seen cars lined up on the side of the road at all hours of the day/night by the marked Beaufort Police cars, including an all black unmarked one. I hear the cops don’t give too many warnings on this road so you’re stuck with a hefty fine and an invitation to court. It’s like blue lights are falling out of the sky!

Comments:
Yes, the speed drops right in front of the hospital. I personally am very glad that the Beaufort Police are professional enough to enforce a marked speed reduction that goes down for such a blatantly obvious reason. Think about it, a hospital with ambulances and people rushing to the ER might be a GOOD reason people to drive more slowly and cautiously. Sort like, hmmm, respect. Right after that you have a junior college on both sides of Ribaut road and then an older residential neighborhood. None of these three should be places for drag races. Thank you Beaufort Police!

This comment is just like the mentality of the residents and cops in Beaufort, SC. Everybody want to act like road-saints down there. The Bft County and City police are tyrants whom terrorize the roads of Beaufort County. Only in Beaufort, SC where honking and flashing at someone is considered "reckless driving". The drag race comment is really a huge scretch. People in Beaufort barely drive over the speed limit ( in real life, most people stay within a 5-9 over). So for you to call the place a drag strip, I bet you never been to a city with 4-6 lanes. Another thing, who on earth are there so many police out patroling anyway??? there is NO crime!

Only in Beaufort, SC where honking and flashing at someone is considered "reckless driving". Are you kidding me? One of the elements of Reckless Driving is driving 25+ miles over the limit. As far as the "NO crime" comment goes, you don't see it cause you don't live here but like everywhere else in America there is crime and Beaufort SC is no exception.
