Roe Blvd crossing into KCK

Roeland Park, KansasOct 15, 20152 Comments

Roeland Park Police will sit on the county line on the Kansas City Kansas side where the speed limit changes from 35 to 45 where there is a missing speed limit sign showing it changes to 45. This is an illegal speed trap the city officials know about it. The sign was placed and they removed it so they could continue to collect revenue from unsuspecting drivers. If you get a ticket here fight it by contacting KDOT. They will verify the sign is missing.

Comments:
This is NOT a speed trap. The jurisdictional speed signs are posted in Roeland Park properly. Go look. They are poste N/B and S/B of 35mph and they are large enough as required by law. A speed sign of 45 is NOT legal in Roeland Park. Call KCK if you want to show the speed limit in their city. Any sign posted different does NOT apply to Roeland Park as all of Roe in their city is 35 mph. If you think different, you are still wrong !!!

Since a specific road was not named in the first comment and only on the second post we can only assume it is talking about Roe. Get the info right if you are making a post. The city ordinance of the 35 mph speed zone only applies to Roeland Park and any other sign would not apply if it was posted as they do NOT have a 45 mph speed in their city. The other posting of a sign as listed above would fall into a different jurisdiction. To think it is illegal to write citations in their jurisdiction for lack of a different jurisdictional sign is incorrect. The statute is very clear. It would apply if they were enforcing a different speed limit in their jurisdiction only. The posting of any other speed sign would apply to the other jurisdiction. There is no standing indicating a speed trap. Are they hiding behind a tree or falling from the sky. If a sign was not in the right jurisdiction, common sense would tell you it has to be moved. KDOT problem or KCK, not Roeland Park.
