Route 12 Expressway near Exit Number Pell Lake Exit
The Pell Lake police are notorious at ticketing folks from Illinois coming over the state line to spend some money in Lake Geneva. The department funds their police force nearly entirely from ticket fines. The puny city is miles away from the freeway but on the freeway giving tickets is where the Pell Lake police force spends 80% of their time.

Pell Lake does not have a police department. Pell Lake is a census designated place (an unincorporated concentration of population) located in the town of Bloomfield. The town of Bloomfield is 33 square miles and the Bloomfield Police spend their time patrolling their town and doing their job, which includes enforcing traffic violations to reduce accidents on US 12.
