Route 190 between Perry and Eastport

Pleasant Point, MaineJul 30, 20021 Comments

Pleasant Point is a reservation community, and is one of the bigger areas of "reverse discrimination" you’ll find in Maine. If you’re not native american, don’t even think of going more than a mile over the limit anyplace on route 190. No exaggeration. Particularly in the 35MPH area that goes right through the reservation. The police force is well-funded and usually bored, so there’s quite regularly a car watching for people coming through.

Comments:
Indeed 190 has a posted 35 m.p,h. limit as it passes through the very heart of Pleasant point reservation. As well it should. The folks, women with baby carriages, small children and their elders who live there, have a long tradition of walking along this route which splits the community through its very center. This road is the only artery by which the residents can get on and off of the island city of Eastport. Many semis and delivery vehicles pass this way on their way to the shipping port of Eastport each day. The locals are most happy to observe the 35 mile an hour limit and we ask visitors to do likewise.
