Route 66 through town

Luther, OklahomaMar 28, 20113 Comments

Route 66 travels right on the outskirts of this little town. The speed limit is 55 to 65 on most of the highway in Oklahoma but for several miles before and after Luther it is 45. No tolerance just as in Arcadia six miles down the road. Usually two officers on duty and one is an unmarked black car. Will sit on the side of the highway for hours running radar.

Comments:
Happened to me too with an unmarked vehicle. told the ticket would be my souvenir from the state. Going 65 in apparently now a 55 mph zone. Won't be returning to route 66 in Oklahoma again.

Why is it 45 when it does not even go through the town. I think the town is posted at 25 make sense but not on a highway that does not go through the town. Stinks to high heaven

If you look at a map of the township, they have incorporated the entire length of SH-66 from the Lincoln County line to Peebly Road. They will follow you closely and intimidate you before they light you up. Then, prepare for some of the worst behavior from a policeman you will ever see. Beware that at night, they will come up from behind you with no headlights on and follow you then light you up and scare the begeebies out of you. Very unprofessional behavior. Fines are extremely steep. Well over the $200 mark.
