Route 9 near a shopping plaza ("1035 RT NB, N|COURT ST")
Police officer pulled me over after after I had stopped at a traffic light and at a point where the speed limit was 60. He said he had clocked me earlier at 62 in a 50 mph zone (apparently just after I returned to the highway from a brief stop in the shopping plaza). However, he "kindly" reduced that to 55 in a 50 zone so I wouldn’t get "points". The fine was $172, payable only with a money order. I recommend that you avoid Route 9. Even though it is shorter than the alternative from I77 to I79, the frequent changes in speed zones and numerous traffic lights provide numerous revenue enhancement opportunities, especially from out-of-staters. (We also chose to continue on to a motel in PA and also bought dinner and gas there instead of WV; since we do go north and south fairly often, this is a way of reducing their incomes and giving the money to those who are more appreciative.)
