Comments:
I am from VA and wanted my son to experience a ferry ride so we took the essex fairy from VT to NY. On the ferry we had a very bad experience. We were told to pull of the ferry by the ferry traffic director when I proceeded a man walked right in front of my car and I came within inches of hitting him. Then his two daughters came right behind him. Luckily I was not going at that point. The traffic director was fussing at all of them. I could not see them because there was a wall to my drivers side. I was so stressed I was shaking. All I could think of was crushing the mans legs under my car. I should have stopped and let myself cry it out and regain composure, but all I could think about was getting back on the interstate away from the situation. I was talking it over with my son about allmost crippling the man and I never noticed any speed limit signs. We had gotten out of the town and where I am from when you are in the country and out of a residential area the speed limit is always 55. When I saw her turn around to come after me I was doing 40 and was wondering what in the world was wrong. I then passed a 50 mph sign. I explained my situation to her about the ferry and that I had just come from seeing someone that I consider my father who has prostate cancer in VT. She had no empathy that I was from out of state and had never crossed that ferry or the stress level I was under. It is only 30 mph through there which never in a million years would I guess that would be the speed limit. This was definately a trap situation and I do not feel as if I was served and protected by the law enforcement. I feel violated.
