All along Rt 50 and especially beginning at Cottonwood Falls, speed drops down to 45 from 65 for four to eight blocks and then back up again. The speeds are not posted on regular speed signs but on the back of yellow diamond signs and in some instances can barely be seen. Police are waiting just to catch people in these short areas, many of whom are out of staters. Fines are high as most people don’t see it because of the short distance of the change of speed and so are traveling 20 miles over the speed limit. On top of that they also add a docket charge. Speed change is only there in some instances for as little as 4 blocks. This takes place all along rt 50 and continues on Rt 54 straight through to Liberal, Kansas
