the speed drops drastically along this route, from 55 to 30 as you are heading south. state police enforced and a trooper barracks on rt.9 near exit 12.

Fortunately, the speed does not drastically change from 55 to 30 in this area. It goes from 55 to 45 well BEFORE the change to a 30 mph zone. Most people continue to do 55 all the way to the 30 zone, however, giving the police more of a reason to pull over true speeders.
And if one is speeding, it's not a trap.
