Rte 30 and 127th Street

Plainfield, IllinoisMay 31, 20101 Comments

As you turn onto Rte 30 heading Northwest toward Aurora, there is frequently an officer sitting in the parking lot of the Hometown Furniture store. The squad car hides just behind the building and gets speeders zooming up Rte 30, particularly on weekday mornings around 7 a.m. This is a two-lane, 50 mph road and cars get really aggressive about passing and going over the speed limit.

Comments:
90% of these Plainfield "speed traps" are simply streets on which people violate the posted speed limit. This being one example. "Speed trap" implies a condition of the roadway or geography landscaping which implicitly encourages a higher speed than it actually indicated. Areas of rapid speed limit changes, etc. Route 30 has a consistent speed limit. Not hard to figure out.
