South Perimeter Road runs east-west between Miami International Airport and State Road 836 and was recently widened to four lanes with median divider between 57 and 72 Ave. The speed limit was lowered from 45 mph when it was undivided 2 lanes to 40 mph after the road was widened. Miami-Dade Police officers stand on the south side of the road where there is no raised curb, about a quarter mile east of 57 Ave., clocking eastbound traffic with laser or radar. On very hot days, they bring a big white yard tent to protect them from the sun while they write tickets. This road has just three points of access and should have gotten a 50 mph limit after widening.
