Santa Fe Drive near Harvard Avenue

Englewood Police place random speedtraps southbound Santa Fe Drive between Evans and Hampden Avenue usually around gas stations and minor side roads. Speed limit drops from 55 to 45 through this area dispite Santa Fe drive being three lanes across including a HOV lane and long onramp and offramps. It’s a great opportunity for Englewood police to nab speeders and DWI drivers on their way back from Downtown Denver to Highland Ranch and other more affluent areas. I was in the center lane, driving some friends home from Downtown at 1:30am … I was driving with the flow of traffic >~60mph in the 55 mph zone north of evans. I didn’t notice the posted 45 speed limit after passing under the Evans overpass. Got lasered going 62mph. I figure my driving a BMW 7 series while other drivers were in early nineties trucks or econoboxes helped the office decide which of the three cars he was going to ticket. I understand the DUI/DWI enforcement, but no the revenue collection aspects – this has become a big business for EP since I believe their funding is less dependent on local taxation, and biased towards traffic enforcement.
