Schoenthal Road near Lewis Ranch Road

For no apparent reason, the speed limit drops from 45 to 30 at this intersection. I frequently see a Sheriff’s deputy parked at the entrance to Lewis Ranch, where the rock walls make him impossible to see from either direction until you are well inside the 30mph zone. I have not been ticketed because I do slow down going through the intersection, partly out of respect for the law, partly to annoy the people who are already tailgating me in the 45 zones.

THERE IS A VERY GOOD REASON IT DROPS DOWN! i live right there on Lewis ranch road. its on top of a hill, and the road next to Lewis ranch road (which no one knows about) has the right of way to lewis ranch rd and schoenthal ranch rd. Even though they have the right of way, both other rds will not give the right of way. my friend lives in there, and he says that there is never a good opportunity to go, because no one stops for you. i like to think the speed limit goes down there, because of the people living in lewis ranch. they don't ever stop at the sign, and people never slow down to turn into the road. p.s. as of 4/9/13 i have not seen a single cop on schoenthal rd in the past 3 months. so it might nt be a speed trap anymore.
