Well, I would have told you THIS is the #1 money-maker for KCMO. And I would also say it’s a totally abused location. KCMOPD spends a lot of manpower at this school zone, which is at the top of the hill on 31st Street, just a few short blocks west of 31st & Van Brunt. You can find 1 or 2 motorcycle cops OR 2 cops in an unmarked car almost 3 mornings of every week there (SERIOUSLY). In the morning, they are ‘shooting’ the westbound traffic. They sit on both sides of the road along that whole zone, so there’s no way to tell anyone where to look for them. Just look for the school zone signs and assume they are there. You will find people who probably drive this way every morning who get pulled over anyway. I’ve driven this way for 10 years now, and the only time they don’t saturate the area is during summer break, but don’t let your guard down then, either. This is most usually a morning trap, but I HAVE seen them in the afternoon, too. If in the afternoon, they are usually ‘shooting’ eastbound traffic. I just wish the police would spend the same kind of time on the dangerous criminals amongst us…..
