Shadowridge Dr, between Melrose and Sycamore

Vista, CaliforniaSep 17, 20031 Comments

I live off of this road so I see people getting tickets all the time. There is a hilly section, five lanes wide, with a posted limit of 40MPH (and 35MPH closer to Sycamore.) Very easy to speed here, and the cops know it. Common to see motorcycle cops poised on the sidestreets along this stretch. I’m guessing they are using radar, but my radar detector hasn’t picked them up yet so i’m not sure. Keep it at 45 or less.

Comments:
There is definitely an illegal speed trap here. I've never been ticketed here, but I live on this street and I often see gatherings of 3-5 motorbike officers here, waiting behind an entrance monument of a home owner's association, outside of plain of view, luring in their victims one-by-one. I have confronted the offending officers in person, recorded their illegal activity and they have chosen to persist with their blatantly illegal activity. Today, I have begun the process of eliminating this speed trap. I have requested a traffic survey for the street and will review it with my lawyer. I will take any legal means necessary to rid my streets of any illegal activity, regardless if the perpetrators are citizens or public servants. This speed trap is unsafe and illegal. The Vista Sheriff's department would be wise to cease their illegal conduct here or fear legal recourse.
