Sharts and Pleasant Valley Rd.

Springboro Police will position their police car just past Pleasant Valey Road in the driveway of the vacant building on the corner of Sharts and Pleasant Valley Rd. It is hard to see the car there because of telephone poles and a big “For Sale” sign post for the same building. This is a speed trap for several reason, the most obvious is because of the difficulty of seeing the police car. However, when the police car is sitting at this location, it has been position in a place that WILL cause false readings. The police car and Radar unit is surrounded by Power Lines and a Transformer substation, not to mention many reflective “No Parking” signs that can reflect/interfere with the radar wave to return a false reading to the radar unit. In the Manual for the Python II and III (radar that Springboro uses), it states that Power transformers WILL cause false readings. Every time the Springboro police use Radar at this location, false readings are very likely to occur. Unfortunately the Springboro Police think their radar units are “special” and never ever give a false reading, even when positioned in a place that the manufacturer (MPH) states in the manual that false reads will occur when near power transformers (like a sub station). If you choose to fight this, be ready to appeal the Mayor court decision. The Mayor court also thinks the Springboro radar never fails and does not seem to like to hear evidence counter to that point. I suggest you do some homework and show that this location is nothing more than a speed trap.
