Shorewood government grant.

I recently asked a Joliet police officer that lives our neighborhood if we could have an officer posted in our neighborhood to control speeding down Riviera. Many use Riviera as a shortcut between River Rd and Theodore to avoid the long waits at the three way stop at River and Theodore. He told me there are only 4 traffic control officer for the entire city of Joliet. When I countered with the fact that three blocks away Shorewood has no problem of having an officer or officers almost constantly sitting on Vertin; it seemed to me that the fourth largest city in Illinois could spare an officer for traffic duty here. After all, the whole neighborhood here is filled with kids and folks running over 50 mph down a posted 25 mph street and is a community danger. That is when I was informed that Shorewood had a government grant for traffic safety. Sp not only are they adding to the village coffers through ticket writing but they have a grant to pay for the salaries to do so. So if you find yourself driving through the Village of Shorewood… Be aware of you speed.
