Side of highway 10, usually the catholic church parking lot
I live in Verndale and the cops are busy folks here. The county sheriff also lives here, and so with all the comings and goings of county cruisers between Verndale and the county seat of Wadena (six miles away), actually the entire stretch of hwy 10 between Verndale and Wadena is a bad place to go more than 5mph over the limit. The speed zone for Verndale is posted with a normal amount of signage, but it’s on a bland stretch of 4-lane and a lot of people make the mistake of not thinking it important to slow down for the half-mile or so stretch that goes through this tiny town. It is important, because pedestrians are always crossing the hwy, and because the county uses the situation to provide a nice revenue stream for an otherwise poor county. They don’t seem to issue any warnings here. There’s usually somebody pulled over, and often a second or third cruiser in the area. Slow it down through here!
