South of the flashing light on Hwy.81 & Hwy.277

Ninnekah, OklahomaAug 26, 20101 Comments

Just south of the flashing light at the intersection of Hwy. 81 & Hwy.277 (Valero station on NE corner) the Ninnekah officers will park in the median without any lights on at all, (which seems like a safety hazard) between the flashing light and the bridge. This area is where the speed limit changes either up or down depending on which direction you’re traveling. We have been pulled over many times, never cited but often have had to endure having our vehicle searched both by the officers and their "drug dog". One time in particular they pulled us over for a burnt out fog lamp… we explained that we had the new one in the vehicle but hadn’t installed it yet, they had us sit with our hands on the dash, then wanted to search the vehicle, the "drug dog" alerted on our trunk which the officers then proceeded to thoroughly search, we were just returning from a 3 or 4 day visit out of state and they went through every piece of luggage. I informed them that I had a take-out container with my leftover dinner in the trunk and that maybe their dog was alerting on that but they continued to sort through everything in the vehicle. Meanwhile, we had to stand outside against the patrol car for over 1-1/2 hours!!! After all this we were allowed to leave & when I started straightening up the vehicle from being rummaged through, I looked under one of the seats & found the new fog lamp… in their vigorous search they didn’t even find it!!! Isn’t that comforting??!!

Just to clarify a couple of things. The spot that you are talking about where they sit is 1/2 mile south of the intersection which is posted 70 mph each way. The speed limit does not change in either direction until you either clear the intersection of Hwy 81 & Hwy 277. How is this a "speed trap". Also the only way that it would become a "safety hazzard" by them parking there would be if you were driving in the median insteed on the road way. And the comment aboutthe drug dog and the search, i take your comments as if your some pissed off drug user or assoicate with drug users because the dog will not indicate on your left over food, that is the furthist thing from his mind. And if your gonna tell a lie as to how you were treated stay with the same lie. you say you had to sit in the car with your hands on the dash then you say you had to stand outside the car for 1 1/2 while they "rummaged" through your car. which is it? honestly why would they care about your fog light that was under the seat when your supposibly "in the process" of changing. Come on if your gonna get on here and play like your were violated at least have a valid complaint or shut up. I find it "comforting" the you went out of your way to post this that just tells me that they are doing their job.
