South Public Road near US Highway 287

Lafayette, ColoradoJan 25, 20082 Comments

The police use a blind corner near the exit of 287 to catch speeders as they adjust from a 50 mph highway to a 30 mph zone. They seem to average about 2 people for every half-hour…

Two years after this was posted, it's still a trap, and people still fall for it.

What is worse is after tou go through the round a bout, a bit later the speed limit goes yo to 30. Nowhere from South Boulder road to Spaulding Dr. on South Public is there a singe speed limit sign. Yet they give my wife a ticket for 43 in a 25 zone. OK. On Spaulding it is 25, but she had just turned onto Spaulding so could not have been going 43 there, And with no posted limit, the state blanket limit is 30 in residential unless otherwise posted, And it is posted as 30 or 35 south of south Boulder Road on S. Public. I will go get a picture of it for her. And the ticket states that the estimated speed was 45 and the visual 3estimated speed was 42. WTF is visual estimated speed? What type of radar or laser was he using and when was it last calibrated? When was his last training on it done? When was he last certified with it?
