Southbound Hollywood Way adjacent to Burbank Airport

Burbank, CaliforniaMar 15, 20102 Comments

Especially in the morning when people are trying to make it to work on time or catch a flight, motorcycle police with radar guns hang out in driveways on the east side of Hollywood Way across from the airport. The speed limit is 40 mph, and the southbound lanes are at a slight downhill, so it’s common to look down at your speedometer and find you’re doing 55 mph or faster. For the police, it’s like shooting fish in a barrel.

Comments:
Someone added that this was a speed trap. It's not! It doesn't fall under what the discription of a what a speed trap is. And the slight down grade has nothing to do with the speeds people are going. And yes, it is like shooting fish in a barrel. Not to hard when people drive the way they do. Just be careful in the area, there have been some bad accidents at Winona and Thornton.

OK people... I've viewed all the locations listed in Burbank (because I'm a resident). Sorry to say that none of these locations qualify as "speed traps" under California Law (bummer). The last ticket I got in town (and I've got a few), I was told by the motor officer that they usually allow 15 mph over the limit before signing you up! That's actually pretty nice. I've gotten speeding tickets in other cities for doing 5-10 over the limit. If you're on Hollywood Way, just stay under 55 and you won't catch the attention of the motors. By the way, if you're going to drag one of these guys to court over a citation, be sure to do your homework!!!! If you don't, they'll make you look like an idiot in front of the entire courtroom!!
