southbound lane about 4 miles south of Fast Foods Business’

Jasper, GeorgiaFeb 17, 20141 Comments

Highway feels like it really should be at least 65 mph (few traffic lights, big grassy divide etc) You are heading downhill (speed likely to climb) Jasper Local Police at bottom of hill on right with LASER. Major source of revenue for City… Be careful

Comments:
This stretch of road is nothing more than a money grab by the local jurisdiction. This is a four lane divided highway in a relatively rural part of north Georgia. Anyone who claims the 55 m.p.h. speed limit is for safety has a different agenda. This goes beyond a speed trap, it is an absolute abuse of government authority. If Jasper had the 55 m.p.h. zone from the hospital to just north of the Walmart supercenter, they might have some credibility but a simple examination of Jasper's city limits clearly shows their intent. I can't speak to being dragged from your car (sounds ridiculous) but they do lurk in the trees, hide behind hills or other obstacles and, the worse part, run up and down that stretch themselves at 80+ m.p.h. when not conducting the People's business. ABSOLUTLY A SPEED TRAP!!
