State Highway 1
Speed limit is 50 miles per hour from the intersection of LA 1 with LA 70. In Napoleonville, the speed limit drops to 40 then 30 then back up to 50. The speed limit signs are not clearly visible from the road at night, but the Sheriff’s Dept. patrols this speed zone very closely. Drivers are ticketed especially at night when there is no traffic on the road. The change in speed limit seems very unnecessary since there is very, very little traffic in the area. The only apparent reason for the change in speed limit in this area is to generate revenue for this tiny town by issuing speeding tickets those traveling through.
