State Highway 101 near before the SLO City sign

San Luis Obispo, CaliforniaJul 13, 20071 Comments

Southbound Hwy 101 just after the Cuesta Grade (a.k.a. Cuesta Pass) right after the lane merge makes 3 lanes into 2, and before the San Luis Obispo city sign there is an area off the right shoulder that is recessed that the CHP is frequently parked in clocking vehicle speeds. You won’t see them through the draping tree limbs until it’s too late. Known to give citations for 1 m.p.h. over speed limit! Most active for morning commuters, and afternoons, but not at night.

Comments:
Agreed, I have even seen CHP running constant Ka band just beyond the electronic speed sign, which also runs on Ka band. Tricky!!! As a Cal Poly student who frequently drives this stretch, I see them there on some part of the grade 60-75% of the time.
