State Highway 101 near Crazy Horse Road

Prunedale, CaliforniaJul 06, 20062 Comments

I personally don’t consider a speed trap by my definition but it an area of road heavily patrolled but it is not designed to entrap anyone but for safety reasons. If you are going south on hwy 101 heading towards salinas Ca and you come to a road going to the left called crazy horse slow down. It generally runs down a couple miles past the hwy 156 exit. This stretch of road is called blood alley due to it’s high rate of accidents and deaths. It is considered one of the most deadly streches in california. They are not out to catch just anyone. I travel the road every day and I keep it at 60 (it is a 55 zone) and have never had any problems myself. This stretch is also been designated a double fine zone so any ticket you get the amount is doubled.

Comments:
The speed limit was changed to 60 on 101 through Prunedale several years ago. Some improvements were made on the highway to make it a little bit safer in some places.

January 2013 not a trap but very heavily patrolled especially mid-day. It IS a Double Fine Zone for the past year and will be for 2-3 more. Max speed 55 Double Fine Zone. BTW, when we say Heavily Patrolled we mean Heavily. I have Seen up to Ten (10) motorcycle Cops in one place area. Plenty of $$$ for counties.
