State Highway 15

Hortonville, WisconsinJun 20, 20040 Comments

A Warning to Travelers going thru Hortonville. Our fine Village Police Force does a fine job enforcing the law. I would like to warn people entering the Village that the Speed Limit is 25 mph. The speed limit does drop from 45 mph to 25 mph, but it is within a 1/2 a mile and is very reasonable. Our schools are within a block from the main streets. Here are places to watch out for: 1) Entering from the West on STH 15 from New London – Town of Hortonia Hall , Old Diamond Water on STH 15, and the old Toy Factory on Main St; 2) Entering the Village from the East on STH 15 from Greenville – All side streets when entering, the car dealership just before the 25 mph speed sign, Kwik Trip, Black Otter Lake, Warner and Main Intersection, Wolf River Credit Union, Alonzo Park, Mid-Con Products, the Park and Ride off to the Left, and right on Main Street past Dairy Queen; 3) Entering from the North on CTH M from the Town of Liberty – the cemetary (the sit in it and run radar from the hill), Community Commercial Club Park, Hortonville H.S. parking lot, and CTH MM and M intersection; 4) Entering from the South on CTH M from the Town of Medina – Right on the street in front of the apartments past the posted 25 mph sign; 5) Driving around in 2 marked squads (1 white "old design" and 1 blue "new design), 1 semi makred squad ("old design" with no lights- PSL Officer’s vehicle) and don’t be suprised if you see Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department Vehicles as well or even State Patrol or the Village of Shiocton. I feel that all the departments on this side of Outagamie County are doing a fine job and are just trying to keep the communities safe. New London has just had 1 close call accident and 1 with a fatality in the past week – cause – speeding way above the posted limit. They are just trying to keep you alive and well. If you don’t like the speed limits or cannot handle driving them, get off the road! The only reason you are getting stopped is for not following the law. The Officer’s don’t make the laws, they just enforce what they are told…and guess what we as citizens make the laws we have to abide by. The Village of Hortonville only has about 2,500 citizens, but our schools and shops are right on the main street. Our officer’s do a fine job and are highly respected for the enforcement. If you cannot drive the 25, STAY OUT OF HORTONVILLE!
