State Highway 16 near Dairy Queen
Jourdanton PD like to run radar on Hwy 16 anywhere in their area of town especially north end of town from the Dairy Queen to the yellow flashing light at JCT Hwy 173 (road that goes to Devine). Speed limit is 35 at Dairy Queen and rises to 45 and then 50 as you go north. Keep your eyes open for the local PD. Don’t speed. Never been caught here–but seen plenty of others not so lucky.

Got caught there May 2011 on hwy 16 in Jourdanton tx right passed the Dairy Queen on my way to Devine. I told the City policeman that stopped me that I never saw a 35 mph sign and he told me where the sign was. After giving me a ticket I turned around and drove back to retrace my path and to view the sign. Interestingly a large gravel truck was parked right in front of the sign making it impossible for drivers to view, so you never see anything but the back of the 35 MPH sign after you pass it. I guess the driver of the large truck was having dinner at the Dairy Queen. Seems like the perfect money maker for a small town budget.
