State Highway 17

Taking I-95 from Savannah, Ga North towards Charleston, SC. you get off I-95 and take Hwy 17 from there to Charleston, SC. Near Beaufort I-17 is a 4 lane highway with a grassy median in the middle.
I was doing work in Charleston and left at 11pm and was in route to middle Georgia to be at a meeting at 9am the next day. I was driving 70mph on hwy 17 near Beaufort ~ 1:ooam(a 4 lane road). I was pulled over by a
Beaufort, SC cop. The speed limit is 55mph. There are long spances where there is no sign of speed limit, also I can not imagine having a 4 lane road with a 55 mph limit.

There is one spot on 17 northbound near Beaufort where going downhill the speed limit changes from 60 to 50. I had cruise control set at 60 and my speed went to 62 after I crested the hill. As I was slowing down to 50, a county sherriff driving southbound 400 yards downhill turned his lights on, performed a U-turn and pulled me over. My ticket reads 66 in a 45 (!). Very uncool and untrue. To exercise my right to fight this in court would require taking off an entire day of work and an hour drive each way...
