State Highway 17 near 4th Avenue

Pass through this town and your speed will be measured at least twice by officers sitting at each end of the main street (Daisey St), that’s 4th AVE NE and again at 5th AVE SE. The speed limit is 25 MPH and is precluded by rapidly decreasing speed signage. In the center of town, make note of officers harassing travelers. I didn’t get a ticket coming through but I would avoid this town like the plague. I saw five patrol cars in less than a 1/4 mile, twice passing through this town. I realize this is the biggest drug run between Canada and the Tri-Cities but this behaviour is ridiculous. I imagine any excuse will be made to stop any vehicle that draws attention.

Comments:
I take it you are one of those thousands from the West side that come over for the great sun & fun that our area offers. But you feel that because Hwy 17 runs right through the center of our town... That, that fact makes it OK for all of you to drive through here at 40 -60mph in some cases because you are in a big hurry to get to the fun spots. We have had numerous deaths caused by speeding and drunk or "Distracted drivers." We have a small force but from late Feb till then middle of Oct we have thousands of drivers who risk the lives of our citizens, children& property as they speed, chat on phone, etc as they rip through our town without giving a thought to what they are doing.
