State Highway 178 near Ranger Boats

Flippin, ArkansasMar 03, 20041 Comments

This trap has been around for several years, there are a couple of spots that the local police or State Troopers can sit and not be visible at all to oncoming traffic. You can be hit from either direction, east (leaving Flippin) or west (entering Flippin). The road is a fairly long straight stretch and it is easy to speed as you are going into town, however a cop will wait on the other side of a rock wall down at the last Ranger building and hit you as you go by. I’ve also had one hit me as I am leaving Flippin and start to speed up on the straight stretch, they hide either at that rock wall, or in a driveway on the left hand side of the road at the 178/202 junction, or in between two cedar trees at the Ranger plant. The speed limit in Flippin changes constantly so just watch the signs and go slow until you get out of there. As of 2004, they have been extremely aggressive, the extra dollars coming in from tickets are helping to fund a new project for the city so they are looking for income however they can get it.

Comments:
The places mentioned are private property. I don't believe they have the right to set up radar on private property unless they have the permission from the owners. I really dought Ranger Boats would agree to a Speed Trap on their property.
