State Highway 18 near Interstate 69

Marion, IndianaMay 13, 20040 Comments

Beware if you drive S.R. 18 from the I-69 interchange to railroad crossing (about 8-9 miles in length). There are some speed patrols from the interchange to the Grant County Fairgrounds. Make sure to watch the median! When you cross the traffic light heading West on S.R. 18 into Marion, the speed drops to 30 MPH (it is safe enough for a speed of 40-45 MPH). There is sometimes an Indiana State Police car that enforces the speed, he usually parks near the intersection of Sweetser St. and S.R. 18. Beware he shows no mercy! NOTE: The entire length of S.R. 18 from the Mississnewa River to the interchange is about to be annexed into Marion (both directions of the road, about 7 miles in length). Now you will have 3 agencies that can patrol the road instead of 2 agencies. Those agencies now being the Indiana State Police, Grant County Sheriff’s Dept, and Marion Police.
