State Highway 1A near Interstate 395
Main Road South and North (Route 1A) bisects Hampden, Maine. The speed limit on the road is 35 because of the built up areas. 35 is a bit slow and it is a commuter road, so people tend to move along. Don’t! The local police like to stake out the road at various intervals from the Bangor line down to the Winterport line. It’s easy pickings! So, slow down.

Lots of businesses and side roads here, keep the speed down, School buses make lots of stops along this streach.
