State Highway 2 & 75 near Mile Marker 46

Nebraska City, NebraskaMay 19, 20083 Comments

4 lane Hwy. Just entering Nebraska from Iowa. Speed limit starts at 60 and drops to 45 near an intersection. 45 speed limit extends far beyond the intersection. The police car is a white SUV and not well marked.

Nebraska City bypass 2 and 75 around the south and west gets a lot of enforcement action. It is 4 lane and very easy to have your speed pickup. One summer weekend as I drove by I saw like 3 separate cars pulled over and a 4th hammer down. Best to set your cruise at the speed limit and go to sleep for a few minutes until you get thru the city limit. The NSP is right there on the bypass, so you have their full attention. Highway 2 west to Lincoln runs pretty well. A lot of truckers use it.

I disagree with the road being a speedtrap in the 45mph zone. The rest of the 4-lane divided highway has 55mph limit, that is the speed trap.

When driving westbound on 2 you best watch out when driving by the scales. Those troops have gotten sneaky. They put a radar on pole with a camera. They like to sit in the scale house with the sign off wait for speeders. You have to look hard for their cars they park in stalls on the south side.
