In an effort to increase city revenue, Ponderay has lowered posted speeds in several high traffic areas. On highway 200, the speed is lowered to 35 for a single corner. On another main thoroughfare, Kootenay Cutoff, the speed is 25. In both of these areas, it is very natural to go faster than posted. On Kootenay Cutoff, 25 miles per hour is embarassingly slow and very difficult to maintain as the road is wide, straight, and undeveloped. Law enforcement is predatory as the only two cops constantly patrol the area.
