North Topsail Beach has officers that do nothing that pull cars for speeding. They work under a grant so chances are if your stopped you will be ticketed

They are a paid department funded by city taxes not grants. Not sure where the information came from but it is wrong. I have been pulled and given a warning several times, no ticket.
I wouldn't call North Topsail speed trap but the cops are strict. Take 5 at your peril. Especially be careful coming down the high rise bridge onto the island. It's easy to speed on the long descent, especially at the bottom where there is a good curve to hide and the limit drops from 55 to 45.
The police will pull you for 5 over but may let you off with a warning unless you were acting stupid. If they smell even a little alcohol prepare for a bad time.
