This police force will also use a little known law regarding the moving over to the inside lane in this area for emergency vehicles. One police car will pull someone routinely and another will wait in hiding for someone that does not or cannot move over. The resulting ticket is five points with $250.00 fine plus $ 130.00 court costs. Many of these officers in Locust (not all) are very aggressive, unprofessional, and target those not in the "good ole boy" network. Very frustrating to commute through this area on a daily basis. Hope to move soon!

I have to say I have lived in this town for 50 years and it has progressed to a town of people scared to get on the road in Locust they would pull their own mother over and give her a ticket. It is like they keep hiring more and more police with nothing to do in our non crime town to just pull people over for baiscially nothing maybe a few miles over the speed limit. There are so many places they sit I have learned now where they are. You cannot go out during the day at anytime without seeing someone pulled over. I suggest we all move.

Beware of their new unmarked Silver Chevy Camaro. I've seen it at various locations along 24/27 in town. Tends to sit in driveways and waits for drive-bys.

I must commute from Albemarle to Charlotte every day and I wish I could do it without going through Locust. I refuse to stop and spend 1 dime in Locust because the City uses their Police as a revenue stream. Obviously the vendors of Locust do not need our money or they would vote for change. Speedtrap ?? All of Locust... If is says 35, you better go 34 or you are busted. I am thinking of getting some bumper stickers made that say: "Welcome to Locust...Here is your court date" The Troopers from Locust to Albemarle are just as bad. No warning tickets. Better keep it @ 55 through Frog Pond between 5:00pm - 6:30pm. ..New 4 lane HWY and it's 55. Pitiful.

As part of my college classes I had to do a 12 hr. job shadowing with a Police Department so my teacher helped me ride with a few of the Locust Officers. As a 17 year old I’ve had a ticket already and at first hated the idea of having to ride in a Mustang with the Officer that wrote me my only ticket. But after riding with them I had no idea of what they see or have to put up with. So I would like to say thank you to all Locust PD for what you do and the endless abuse you all see and hear. And for all the people that want to move or detour around Locust thanks, the town is a better place without you ignorant selfish people in it. Again Thank you, Locust PD for all the time away from your family you have to spend to baby sit these stupid people on the page that like to write about something they have no idea about.
