State Highway 260 mile marker 306

Snowflake, ArizonaNov 11, 20032 Comments

Ambient speed limit of 55 is reduced to 45 for no apparent reason, ie- where there is no increase in traffic volume, no pedestrian flow, no increased side conflict in terms of driveways or intersections, no street lights, no traffic lights, no obvious increase in urbanization. Location is far outside of business district. This posted speed reduction enables police to give tickets for 15 mph over instead of a probable warning for 5mph over.

I will never visit Snowflake, and will take any alternative route to avoid entering the community. The speed traps designed to suck money from people traveling through and around Snowflake must fund the entire police department. Not only was the fine excessive, threy then charged a late fee of $20. Then they don't notify you and jack up the amount owed to $101.00! Oh, then you get your license suspend. I will bad mouth Snowflake for the rest of my life. Every chance I get. I'm a 52 year old Arizona native with property in several locations around Arizona including the White Mountains. I also own a real estate company with over 30 in-house agents. I will be informing everyone I can, that they should avoid Snowflake at all costs. By simple word-of-mouth, Snowflake will lose more money than was gained through stopping me and my family in what the internet describes as a major US speed trap. ---Leo Berg

You don't identify where the supposed speed trap is on Snowflake but I have never noticed anything unusual in speed signs nor have I noticed many police and I travel through Snowflake on a regular basis. By the way, state statute sets speeding ticket prices. And how is it the Snowflake Police fault f you don't pay your ticket? And the police do not have the power to suspend your license, that is the court. Late fees are also set by the court. Just to keep it real. So when metropolitan area people drive through rural America slow down. Oh, and I searched the internet for something about Snowflake being "a major US speed trap" and all I found was 2 comments, one being yours. Not very major.
