State Highway 27 near Small motor lodge on right side

Oxford, OhioJul 31, 20041 Comments

Entering Oxford from the south, after you pass a small motel on your right and head down the hill, the speed limit goes from 55 to 45 to 35 near the bottom of the hill. OPD and more recently MUPD will be waiting for you at the bottom at various times of the day, mostly evening rush hour and late nights Wednesday through Sunday. Sometimes they leave the gun on, sometimes they spot check you, sometimes they just sit there and their presence is enough to slow traffic. On occasion when they’re feeling particularly ornery, they will hide down a small path off the road in a group of trees, virtually invisible to passing motorists. If you coast down this hill, most cars will be going about 45-50 at the bottom, definitely fast enough for a ticket.

Comments:
NOTE: The speed limit has recently been changed to 45 mph all the way to the top of the hill entering Oxford (formerly 35 mph), so it's not as easy to exceed the speed limit in this area--hence, fewer traffic stops.
